The New York Knicks defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 112-106 on Friday night . RJ Barrett led the Knicks with 30 points while Jalen Brunson added 27 points and 10 assists. Zion Williamson led the Pelicans with 25 points. The Knicks improved to 4-2 with the win while the Pelicans fell to 1-5.

The Knicks took an early lead in the game and never looked back. Barrett hit a three-pointer to open the scoring and the Knicks led by as many as 12 points in the first quarter. The Pelicans closed the gap to three points late in the second quarter but the Knicks took a 58-53 lead into halftime.

The Knicks extended their lead to 10 points in the third quarter but the Pelicans cut it back to five points early in the fourth quarter. The Knicks then went on a 9-0 run to take a 101-88 lead with 5:35 remaining in the game. The Pelicans got within five points again late but the Knicks held on for the win.

The Knicks were led by Barrett and Brunson but they also got solid contributions from Julius Randle (19 points), Obi Toppin (14 points), and Mitchell Robinson (12 points, 11 rebounds). The Pelicans were led by Williamson but they also got 20 points from Brandon Ingram and 18 points from CJ McCollum.

The Knicks will be back in action on Sunday when they host the Boston Celtics. The Pelicans will be back in action on Monday when they host the Los Angeles Lakers.
