Norfolk district attorney names lead prosecutor for Karen Reade's retrial

BOSTON — Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins on Tuesday announced veteran prosecutor John Pappas has been named lead prosecutor in the retrial of a man convicted of murdering a young mother in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood in 1986.
Pappas joins Assistant District Attorney Meghan Leary as the second prosecutor on the case. The case has taken new turns in recent years amid questions of Campbell's guilt and the emergence of DNA evidence.
Campbell was convicted of first-degree murder in the 1986 killing of 20-year-old Karen Read, who was found strangled in her Dorchester apartment.
